  • Looking Closer…

It’s pretty easy to miss what truly matters in life when looking at things in the distance…
Sometimes you just have to stop looking and be grateful for what is right in front of you.

Despite the struggles that consume my life at the moment (hardcore studying for MCATs in two months, worrying about the med school application, and other group project commitments that I have made), I should be very grateful that I have an amazing family and excellent friends.

What are you thankful for in your life?

I live in Colorado.  Where I live, I drive down this hill and in the distance you can see the snow covered mountains.  I have this feeling of awe, appreciation whenever I see them — and each day I see them, they’re a little different.  You’ve inspired me to buy a camera.

  • this is great! i love the focus..

  • yes, be grateful for excellent friends like me. j/k. good luck!

ryc: tnx but it’s okay. no pain no gain right? and this only means the workout is working. hahahaha though it makes it tough to walk especially going down the stairs. now the workout isn’t the most problematic. GUYS! :D

  • I love that picture you took! Yeah you are right; I hope everything goes well for you.

I do also have lovely friends, great family (even though we used to scream at each other) and a pretty good life. In reality I cannot wish for more. There are people that have it worse than me. I should be proud of what I have. (I wish I could always think this way.)

You’re making me remember what important. Thanks you =)

  • You shouldn’t thank me; I’m the one that should thank you. I wish you a great day also. And keep your good mood up. I’ve seen some of your shoots, they’re really great. I think you can be something big for sure!♥

  • Because I wouldn’t pick UM over certain schools I got in to.
And WOW you have nice lenses.

  • A lot. My health, friends, family, and music, especially Incubus.

  • what a great quote for this pic.

  • RYC: I don’t know if it is a psuedo engagement, but I wish it weren’t real.

  • Thank you so much!! :)
By the way, i love the photo, it’s really a beautiful shot. :)

    To answer your question:
Before I really wasn’t thankful for my family, because u know I was young, they always argued with me.
But I realized, they argued with me for a good reason. They’ve stuck through with me all my life and thats why
I am so thankful for them and I love them dearly. Also I am thankful for my wonderful boyfriend of 9 years. He is always there
for me as well and such a good friend & lover. I love him. :)

  • I couldnt agree more! :) Somtimes we feel like things are sooo hard..and nothing could be worse…but there is always someone out there having a rougher day..week…whatever…u KNow and I remind my self of that! :)

I am most Thankful for my family and close relatives….the roof over my head…the car that takes me to work everyday…and most importatly another day to live and breath!  I have lost several family members over these past few years and another day to be alive is just a blessing to me!

  • ryc: I think she enjoyed herself, despite the “over the hill” crepe paper and the home videos. lol I hope that when it’s your turn, that those you love are able to embarrass you as much as I was able to embarrass her. :o )

  • Thanks for the comments.  I can’t wait to use my lens more, but it sucks this time of year for any photography in MN. I love your Sunset at Miramar Lake picture. It’s amazing!

  • man, i’m still lovin’ this shot.  haha

ryc:  i should put up another corporate photo.  i have another good one :)

  • @mylifeistaken - i look forward to it… btw – what’s your workflow? Indoor lighting is so tricky to balance some times…

  • those shots were purely shot in raw.  i didn’t have the time to white balance in the room.  the lights were clearly fluorescent (i work at a energy utilities company so we had to be energy efficiency stuff).  but i was shooting in auto (i know, i should be shot for that but it didn’t matter since i was shooting in raw).  so i adjusted the colorbalance to fluorescent back in lightroom and it worked out nicely.  if the color was not looking too good even after setting it to the correct lighting setting (indoor, outdoor, fluorescent, tungsten, etc) i would adjust the tint to the photo.

    i hope this helps!

  • nice shot, totally agreed “It’s pretty easy to miss what truly matters in life when looking at things in the distance…” Thanks sharing

  • There’s something about your photographs that’s making me cry tonight.  I don’t know what it is, but you really do know how to capture images that speak to my soul.  Thanks.
