Radiance
So it looks like everyone is trying their hands at macro photography these days– some with very good or simply exceptional results, and others with… not so good results (sorry, not mentioning names for this one).
What we, as hobby (non-professional) photographers, have to keep in mind is how interesting or visually appealing a subject is. Just because you can zoom in to see all of its details, it doesn’t make it a good picture unless there is something in the details that is worth seeing.

Canon 20D: Canon EF 70-200L @ 100mm, F/4, 1/640 sec, ISO 400
(For reference, the flower was about the size of a quarter.)Cliché? Yes, but at least it’s a pretty shot and an interesting subject, heh.
For a more original macro shot, also taken with my Canon EF 70-200L lens, please click here.EDIT: So it looks like a lot of firefox users can’t browse my site because of the way my Xanga theme is rendered with the browser. Grr Xanga. First a lot of themes don’t scroll right with Opera, and now a lot of themes prevent firefox from actually displaying the page. When will you fix yourself?

Wow. I love the colours fading and bleeding into each other like that… delicate veins.
=)
So delicate~
Very pretty!!
…So this is what my flowers will look like when I borrow your lens?
hehe
I like the center of the flower… very yellow… very egg yoke-ish.
I
U.
Nice Will, the bokeh is really creamy and smooth. Tripod used?
I want to see more eye shots.
pretty
“it doesn’t make it a good picture unless there is something in the details that is worth seeing.” I can’t agree with it more.

Pretty. =]

Lovely photo Will~!!!!
Dude… I love my macro lens, but my hands are not steady and it’s soooo hard to get that right shot. OMG… you need to try out my Macro again and take more flower shots. You’ll be in love with the lens ^_^
beautiful
Wow this is nice Will. When I see this, I just think creamy creamy shot. lol. Sorry I haven’t been commenting or posting on xanga as much but hopefully I can get back on track doing those 2 things!
Wanna put that in my hair!
Lol.
Pretty!
Nice shot Will.
Some close-ups of very small insects are always cool. Hummingbirds… classic. So are those poofy white dandilions.
nope… it was against a wall. haha.
I adore your pictures! I can’t remember how I ended up on your page, but I’m glad I did. I get to see such nice photography every so often.
You won’t find much on my page, all I do is ramble about my days. Pretty boring if you ask me.
By any chance, do you lend your photos to people like me who would love to use them as desktop pictures?? :D
wooo look at the flower veins.
ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ME? I’D APPRECIATE IT IF YOU DIDNT CRITICIZE MY MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY. I HAVE SLANTED EYES. I HAVE A HARD ENOUGH TIME SEEING THINGS NORMALLY, HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO FOCUS IN ON SOMETHING SO CLOSE. I FIND THIS POST OFFENSVE AND IM TELLING THE OWNER OF XANGA TONIGHT ABOUT THIS WHEN I MEET UP WITH HIM FOR COCKTAILS.
nice photo though.
it reminds me of when all the big kids in elementary school used to push me down on the ground. i used to be up close and personal with the grass and flowers. thank you for sparking such an amazing childhood experience. i should embrace this photo. this is truly art.
love,
Mark
p.s. I’m bored since I have nothing to study for. odd.
@s00sh - I love you too!
PS. that second flower shot you have on your page is amazing. I would have included it in my list of exceptional shots if it were taken with a macro lens
@Vitamin_D - Thank you! I’m glad you liked the delicate nature of the shot. I was trying to go for that look, hence the excessive bokeh on the edges, etc
@ImprezaGirl - Hey, your shot was amazing!
@lemonifresh - Not a problem, Karen. I’m only giving credit where credit is due!
@RedStarr5 - thank you very much for the lovely comment!
@Amandasbiggestfan - i aspire for the poofy dandelions!
@ChinaPrep - Don’t worry Mark. I guess I won’t hold it against you any longer, haha.
@enginerds - oh man, coming from you that’s a huge compliment! i look forward to more of your stuff soon, especially with that 1d III!
@SiMuL4Ti0n - very glad to see you liked my shot
@minteefoto - Glad you liked Theresa. BTW – Doesnt xanga charge you 10 bucks to change user names?
@winkxwong - Glad you liked it!
@Sabrana - (:
@goodbyedinner - veiiinnssss!
@icynight16 - I’m very glad you liked. Your photos are amazing.
@Vietprince1 - Thanks Lanh. Actually no tripod was used. Yay for 1/640 sec and AI focus, huh?
haha will, its been a long ass time. im glad to hear things are going well. the boyfriend is off to denmark this august. and me? maybe london, then denmark, not sure.
beautiful
hey that is a pretty flower.
we had to take bunch of macro pictures of teeth of our patients– and mine sucked!!! Granted I have to invest into a camera with lens that’s at least 1000 bones (i will be asking u for some suggestions wen the time comes!), but we were just playing with our normal digi cams, and mine came out kinda blurry. booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. i want to take photo class!!!!!
anways, just want to say beautiful flower!
lol, yea, i spent 10 bucks to change the name rather than to create a new account..it took me quite a while to create it initially! i’m done with the name change now.. ^^;;
RYC:
…OR! It would have made you seem even more manly because you were able to quote the ‘reflections’ song and still keep your dignity.
^_^
this is so pretty! the colors are amazing
gosh that is gorgeous….I hope that one day I could get as good as that…
Thanks for your comments Will. The 5D is definitely the way to go especially if you enjoy shooting portraits or landscapes. However, if you move on to any type of action photography (sports, racing) it’s better to have the 1d mk III for the 10 fps.
I remember you had a photo a day thing going as well ? How’s that turning out if you had it.
i like your shots.
you appreciate beauty.
thanks will. i hope u will enjoy ur summer as well
i will keep in touch and update
pretty prettyy prettyy! <3
