Street Lights and Benches
About a year old, but I really like this shot. This was at Baltimore’s Federal Hill. I think I slightly prefer the perspective of B. People I ask seem to be split. Hope you like!
Which crop do you prefer? Why? (and thanks for your opinions)
A.
Canon 350D: Canon EF 35mm, F/22, 5 sec, ISO 100B. Alternate Cropping (which I now view as inferior…)

1st oe. Sidewalk a bit too centre in the second, although both are very good.
I would even crop out the negative black space on the left, and let the sidewalk meet the bottom left of the shot. That might create more depth to your shot.
1st one. it seems more balanced yet at the same time not centered. i don’t konw what i’m talking about.
is this a trick question??..maybe there is something wrong with my eyes..but yeah b. is a little clearer
Hurray… the 1st shot is winning =) But you already know my reason ^_^ There’s too much open black space in the 2nd one.
the first one looks great! =)
i……..can’t see any difference…..haha
maybe there were alittle more black in the 2nd one, to the left. i like 1st one.
n u must had a tripod there didn’t u? 5sec. no tripod?
I must need to get my eyes checked…I can’t really tell there is a difference.
Great shot thoough!
But I do agree with the first reply…maybe crop a little off the left.
i think id like an even tighter crop. the neg space on the top left makes me uneasy. you never know whats out there! haha jk
hmm…i prefer the 2nd one. Unless in the 1st crop, like what chrispycrunch says, crop off till the sidewalk meets the bottom left.
A — The neg space in the 2nd one is more distracting than useful. I disagree with the first commenter about cropping the left, they may need to adjust their monitor as there is detail outside of the sidewalk. I think the grass and space next to the sidewalk helps the sense of depth.
streetphotos – Thank you! I now agree… I think that A is a good compomise now between depth and interesting-ness.

Thanks for the comment guys… Too lazy to comment reply to everyone. I now prefer the first
Hi Will, I like the first one better. B has too much white space (or i guess in this case black), making it look really bottom heavy. A is more balanced. Nice exploration, though!
A.
at first i couldn’t tell the difference but i like A. for the slightly tighter crop.
I must be blind….or just untrained eyes…no idea, can’t see the differences…sorry.
hahaa. beautiful shot. reminds me of a night walk through a wet garden.
and yes, how can i ? the most i can do is try…which oftentimes just results in incoherent babble anyways. (:
This shot is gorgeous! But it reminds me of a creepy park infested with bad people who might rob me if I’m not careful..LOL!
lol I like this picture so much…it reminds me of nighttime walks in the park
If it were me, I would crop some of the back at the top….but you know what you’re doing lol
so my opinion doesn’t really matter =/
do u want a couple of dc metro passes .. they have 3.40 and .65 left on them
err, well, in my hands, it’s a Canon 20D. i usually take that out with me. but i prefer the digital ixus i have. fits in my back pocket. am looking at the 450D tho.
i like A!
lol. so.. i should get a 40D? lol. i’m confused! haha
HAAAHA (: don’t you love it ?
yea. it was probably because we were the first people he saw rounding the corner. but don’t tell anyone.
@minteefoto – Thank you
. I see what you mean about too much negative space.

@kevnlee – Thanks man. I’ve learned a lot about cropping because of that help you gave me a while back
@Femme003 – Haha… You’re not the only one.
@tingtiing – I’m really glad you like it! You make me wanna go and take a pic of a hazy, foggy garden now…
@winkxwong – Haha!. In Baltimore, that’s very possible!
@redcrazy – Hmm I may crop some of the top off next pass
@soundz – HAHA! It’d probably be too difficult to get them from you. I appreciate though! Plus, this way, you have to come back to use them!
@goodbyedinner – Thanks!
Been enjoying your pix… And the omelet one made me hungry!
I concur w/ all the other ppl who’ve commented. 1st one.
Hope you don’t mind the subs.
Anything you state interferes with my brains, I reflect so
