Computer Area / Nexus One
Where I spend the majority of my time when I am at home…
How nerdy, huh? At the time I had my receiver playing bluetooth audio from my Nexus One’s Dock.My new baby… The Google Nexus One. I purchased mine unlocked so that I could get a pretty awesome rate plan. It’s not an iPhone killer, it’s an iPhone annihilator. For Apple’s sake, I hope that they come out with something amazing for the iPhone 4G, and I am sure they will.
But judging from how closed-off Apple’s design strategy is and how uncustomizable their iPhones are, I think that the Nexus One will probably be the best phone available in the US until Windows Phone 7 comes out. [Yes, I know about the HTC EVO 4G coming out in June, but that thing is too big, doesn't have an OLED screen, is running the same CPU/GPU as the Nexus, is too big to be pocket-able, and is not nearly as pretty... though it does have HDMI!]
[For the geeks out there: 1 GHz Snapdragon (almost double the speed of the 3GS's 600 MHz Arm A8, and it's dramatically smoother while scrolling in image-heavy pages such as engadget), 3.7" 800x480 AM-OLED Display (simply amazing and makes the 3GS's low-res 3.5" 480x320 LCD looked like a washed out 1990s phone), supports flash (I installed it through the HTC Desire's ROM, but Adobe will officially release it in few weeks), dual mics for noise cancellation (I spoke with my girlfriend while walking in a very crowded area and she thought I was alone in my apartment), full Google integration (including Goole Voice and Translate), amazingly accurate speech recognition for almost every text field (they disable it while entering phone numbers and web addresses), and all this in a package that's actually thinner than the iPhone.]

i just blew my geek load.
thumbs up.
hackintosh?
@GERKshinobi - Heh, I may try that one day, but sadly not yet. I just really liked the aluminum keyboard.
I do have a Macbook Pro, but that’s on my other desk.
@owbert – Haha, no comment.
ahha! someone got a droid, sensible like me haha! im using HTChero,
not as new as urs but it works just fine for me, wanna try the new firmware tho (2.0/2.1?)
i quite like the droid because of its exclusivity, too many iphones out there,
and Google Sky Map is one of the androids must-have lol
ur room is pretty bright, did u bounce flash?
@Brando_n - Heh… I love the Nexus One, and Android in general. I really like that HTC Hero / Droid Eris you’re using too. Android (especially 2.1) definitely makes the iPhone OS look so primitive in terms of interface, and is right up there with the User Interface design of Palm Pre’s WebOS, but with more functionality and better hardware. I wish I could have waited for Windows Phone 7 though, since that UI makes everything out now look like crap, but I just couldn’t wait until the end of the year. Have you rooted your phone yet? The very first thing I did when I got mine was root it and install CyanogenMod for tethering, ARM Neon optimizations, and general speed tweaks.
I really like the Sky Map app. I had fun with it yesterday. Also, have you tried Google Translate? It works with the built in voice recognition, and it also speaks in the foreign language if you want it to. By the way isnt your official update to 2.1 coming out soon, right? April I think? Oh, and I didn’t bounce… I just did f/2 at ISO 400 and had the exposure at +1/3 since the background was white.
That is a great setup – those speakers look intimidating but good on the ears.
Hi friend! Just thought I’d let you know that I’m linking your site (as a long time fan) to my new blog at wordpress. (sawurst.wordpress.com) Looks like you haven’t updated in a while, but there’s plenty of good old stuff on here.
