Oldschool Picture-in-Picture
A month or so ago, I went studying in The Park. Most of my sightings were unremarkable, but this little glimpse of throwback Picture-in-Picture made me smile. Little did this woman know, I was behind her, taking pictures of her and her painting for a good few minutes.

Where was this?
Great shot!
@light_blue_fables - Thank you! This was in NYC’s Central Park, which is a stone’s throw away from my med school. I go there every now and then to study in the peace of nature.
Now, how often do you get to set up a shot like that? A little deep focus (and something to stand on) might have been nice—but that’s pretty nifty for serendipity!
@n_e_i_l - I must confess that I had precisely this shot in mind as I was walking around, way before I even saw her. I actually took “the same shot” with another painter in a different location, but it lacked the magic, as it was a bit more busy. Regarding the depth of field, I actually was going for having it precisely this shallow and diffuse. I wanted the bokeh to have the same level of detail and ethereal feel and as the blobs she was painting with.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I like it fine as it is. I was just thinking a wee bit over her shoulder, and more of the middle right half of the canvas might have been visible, where her arm is… and the background a little more distinct might resemble the painting more, but they correspond enough for that amusing self-referential effect.
@n_e_i_l - Hmm. Interesting. I have about 30 other pics of her in the process of painting, and I’m pretty at least a few meet that criteria. I’ll take a closer look
